Nettle/Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica)

Nettle Leaf is used in traditional herbalism to mineralize the body, decrease inflammation, relieve pain, increase energy, support detoxification, regulate blood sugar levels, calm allergies, boost the immune system and as a general tonic.

(Urtica Dioica), has so many benefits and is an overall nutritious herb! Nettle leaf has a long history of use for supporting the body’s inflammatory pathways and supporting upper respiratory health. It is commonly used for hay fever or sinus infections. Other uses for nettle include: arthrittis, eczema, sluggish metabolism, hypothyroidism, weak hair/teeth/bones, fatigue, deficient blood, seasonal allergies, urinary tract infections, respiratory issues, menstrual cramps, lowers blood pressure, aids blood sugar control & liver health.

When it’s processed through cooking or drying, its stinging properties are destroyed and it can be used beneficially.⁣ Did you know the nettle's sting is a 'counterirritant'? This means its chemicals can actually decrease an existing pain. Roman soldiers allegedly used this effect to adapt to the colder, harsher climate of England- rubbing nettles on their arms and legs to help them keep warm.

As an anti-inflammatory, nettle aids in treating skin irritations, reducing redness and swelling, and soothing itching.⁣ As mentioned previously, it is known to be full of vitamins (A, C, K + several B), minerals, amino acids, fats, and polyphenols. Many of these nutrients act as antioxidants inside the body ~ molecules that help defend your cells against damage from free radicals. ⁣
